ILIP ATTENDS FRUIT LOGISTICA, INSPIRED BY SUSTAINABILITY AND INNOVATION
All the news from the Bologna-based company in Berlin from 7 to 9 February, Hall 3.1 Stand D-08
BOLOGNA, 29 January 2014 – Innovative and sustainable solutions combined with a vision of packaging as a fundamental element in keeping food products fresh and improving management throughout the production chain.
These are the hallmarks of ILIP, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of thermoformed plastics, which will be the focus of our participation in Fruit Logistica, the biggest international trade show in the fresh produce sector, to be held in Berlin from 7 to 9 February (Hall 3.1, stand D-08).
At the Berlin show, ILIP will be presenting two innovations in the fresh produce sector, both of which represent the company’s philosophy.
The first is the B43 heat- sealable salad bowl designed for ready-to-eat salads in the IV range, made out of 80% recycled PET with PSV (Second Life Plastics) certification, guaranteeing the packaging is suitable for use with food products.
The B43 salad bowl is available in a range of heights, from 48 to 113 mm, and has the same diameter as those currently on sale but created from different materials, meaning that the same sealing machines can be used for the packages. In December, this product won a Sette Green Award from Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera for eco-sustainable products.
The second innovation is the new range for paraguayo peaches, formed of 3 product lines: a punnet with lid (B44) and a clamshell (SETB44) both in r-PET, and a complete range of fruit nest trays. Thanks to a closure system with four symmetrical buttons, the B44 basket can be used as its own lid, allowing the client to create a range of combinations from the lidded basket to a simple flow-pack packaging.
The special design of the B44 punnet/ lid also allows for optimal ventilation on four sides, reducing any condensation effects and contributing to optimal storage of the packaged fruit.
Fruit Logistica also offers us an opportunity to look back on the year just closed. Roberto Zanichelli, ILIP Sales and Marketing Director, commented that: “We had a positive 2013, in line with expectations, with good performances for our basic products such as packaging trays and punnets in one kg or half kg sizes, and some positive results with some of the more innovative products such as the TS line for small fruit”.
