BIOPLASTIC AND BIODEGRADABLE MATERIALS: ILIP PRESENTS ITS LATEST NEW PRODUCTS AT MARCA AND SIGEP 2019
The ILIP Bio line has been extended, and a range of cardboard plates and cups is being launched, to meet the growing need for cellulose-based products in large-scale distribution and the HORECA industry
VALSAMOGGIA (BO, xx January 2018) – The year has set off to a novelty-packed start for ILIP’s Foodservice Packaging business unit, which is part of the company based in Valsamoggia specialising in the production of food packaging.
On 16th and 17th January, the Bolognese company will attend Marca, the international private label exhibition in Bologna (Hall 30 – Booth A63) and Sigep, the International Trade Show of Artisan Gelato, Pastry, Bakery and the Coffee World (Hall D5 – Booth 108) in Rimini. The focus of ILIP’s participation in both trade fairs will lie on the new products from the brand’s lines of disposable tableware and deli-food containers, in which special attention was paid to compostable and biodegradable materials and the use of renewable resources.
“We decided to take part in both events to give out a strong signal to the large-scale distribution and HORECA markets, in view of the imminent confirmation by the European Parliament of the Directive which affects disposable plastic tableware – explains Roberto Zanichelli, business development and marketing director at ILIP – We are not unprepared for this prospect, as we have been supplying lines of plates, cutlery and containers in bioplastic, cellulose pulp, and now cardboard too, for more than ten years. Thanks to the experience gained in this field, we are launching some major novelties in Rimini and Bologna, to accommodate the growing needs of our customers for alternatives to traditional plastic materials”.
Specifically, at Marca and at Sigep 2019, ILIP will be presenting the extension of the ILIP Bio line of compostable products; the new line of cardboard products and a new premium range of plastic tableware, which is also re-usable and suitable for finger food.
The new cardboard plates and cups are biodegradable and made using renewable resources and are destined for use by both consumers, via large-scale distribution, as well as the HORECA channel. Their applications range from serving cold and hot beverages, to fast food, ready meals and fresh food, both hot and cold. All the raw materials used are sourced from renewable resources in Europe with a controlled and certified supply chain, and they can also be available with FSC (forest stewardship council) or PEFC (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) certifications.
The ILIP BIO line, which already includes cups, plates which are also resistant to high temperatures, cutlery, bioplastic food containers, cellulose pulp plates and cardboard cups, has been supplemented with several new products: bioplastic products in small packs intended for sale in large-scale distribution; heat sealable square plates (180×180 cm) with compostable film for modern collective catering and pre-packed food on wheels; a new line of disposable cups and plates in biodegradable cardboard.
The assortment of biodegradable pulp products has also been extended with the addition of around 25 new items, including plates, bowls and food trays. The new products which have been added to the line also include new wooden cutlery, as a possible alternative to the range in bioplastic which the company already supplies.
